Turn left at the 2nd light

I’ve always wondered

What was all that green. I’ve never seen it

In any movie or forensic show

But it was all over the windshield

Two hours ago I broke into one of those magnificent stretches

As I awoke.

The body feeling so well. So alive as the days first bird chirp

Somehow our feet became one. Palm to palm. sole to soul

Despite the morning breath…..we kissed

The sun broke in her eyes. Prisms of love

And I’m not just saying this. I felt luckier than any of you

The strength of that steering wheel. I just let go

Those men standing in the the steam in yellow vests

They’ve seen this all before.

The trees always win

She pressed her legs against the floor. Clenched her fists

The airbag that they deplore
